A booth that takes two minutes to play and five minutes to rebuild will soon have a long line. These four fall festival booths reset with one pass of a volunteer’s hand. Set them around the edges of the room and leave the middle clear for people moving between them.
Apple basket toss
Place two empty baskets on the ground or on a low table. Give the visitor three red beanbags. The near basket is worth one point and the far basket two. Let the player choose the line and announce their target before each underhand toss. Offer a closer toss or a seated drop. Keep spare bags in a bowl so one volunteer can collect while the next visitor hears the rules.
Volunteer’s opening line: “You have three apples. Which basket would you like to try first?”
Pumpkin patch memory
Draw six different pumpkin faces on folded paper tents. Stand them in a row and give a visitor ten seconds to study them. Ask the player to turn away while you reverse one tent so the face is hidden. The player names the missing expression or points to its match on a spare face sheet. Reset by facing the tent forward. Use three tents for a shorter challenge.
Harvest market order
Arrange paper pictures of corn, apples, squash and pears in a pretend market. A volunteer says a two-item order. The player hands over the pictures in the order named. Return them to the table and add one more item to the next order. Show the order as a row of pictures for anyone who wants a visual version. Two copies of each picture allow orders such as “pear, corn, pear.”
Leaf detective
Trace four paper leaves onto a large sheet. Cut one notch into each leaf edge and trace that detail too. Visitors fit the leaves to their outlines, then choose one leaf and explain what helped them match it. A notch or stem points the way even when two leaves share a color. A sheet of cardboard under the outlines keeps this booth portable.
Staff the first half hour
Assign one leader per open booth. A fifth person can welcome guests and point out quieter tables. If just two volunteers show up, open two booths and switch the activities halfway through. Give each visit roughly two minutes and let families pick the next open table. Skip tickets and scores entirely for an open house, or stamp a visitor’s paper leaf once for each booth they try.
Set aside a table for repairs, spare paper and drying supplies. A volunteer can swap out a torn face or leaf between visitors. For a school event with fixed groups and identical time slots, the field day rotation guide gives another way to organize turns.
